WE HAVE A HOUSE!
A house has been donated to Harriett's House! This house will become the home for our residential program. Located in Dorchester County, our home will provide short-term housing for those seeking immediate care in situations concerning human trafficking and exploitation. Before we will be ready to accept residents, we need to prepare the home. Many hands will be needed to transform this space. There are a number of projects that need to be done including a new roof, heating/air system, flooring, stripping wall paper, painting, installation of a privacy fence, and other projects.
We are looking for those willing to donate time, materials, labor and household items to help us get the home ready for residents. Not only will we need to prepare the home but we will need to raise the funds to run the residential program. Up to this point, we have run the drop in center 100% on a volunteer basis. The residential program will require 24/7 staffing and will include expenses for programming and care for the residents. We have an estimated budget of $270,000 per year for the residential program. We will be able to care for 5 women at a time and expect each person to stay an average of 14 days with the possibility to stay up to 60 days. Women will be given the opportunity for stabilization and explore the possibilities for next steps in care. She will be able to decide what is right for her situation and we will help her get connected to the resources she needs.
